Slumberjack & K.Flay Unveil Live Cover of M.I.A’S 'Paper Planes' [WATCH]

The Australian duo known as SLUMBERJACK recently performed a live cover of M.I.A’s ‘Paper Planes’ on Triple J’s Like A Version segment.

For those who are wondering, the segment features an artist who performs an original track and then performs a cover of another. With the help of American singer K. Flay and a plethora of strings, SLUMBERJACK puts an orchestrated twist on the classic rap song. Their rendition follows the same structure and melodic progression as the original, though it does incorporate some unique trills, and counter melodies. The vocals also have some original flavor added in which gives the song a different feel when combined with the strings. All in all it’s definitely something that will catch your ear, especially if you’re a fan of M.I.A and her music.

You can also listen to the Triple J station live over the internet or on podcasts if you’re interested in hearing what other artists have covered or will cover.
