Bassnectar Confirms Annual Residency at Middlelands Festival
Sometimes, the weirdest combinations can result in amazing outcomes.
If you had told me that you could combine electronic music with a medieval themed event successfully, I would have said you were nuts. How do two things that are so opposite of each other work so well together?
Well, that may be a question for Middelands organizers at Insomniac events and its founder, Pasquale Rotella. Regardless, the first Middlelands Festival this past weekend was a huge success. For those of you wondering, yes, future installments of the festival are already in the works. As a matter of fact, one of the headliners from this year appears to have committed to the festival going forward.
Bassnectar must have really enjoyed his time at Middlelands, because he already plans on being back next year. The long haired bass head already confirmed as much on his Facebook account.
This is exciting news for fans of Bassnectar and Middlelands Festival, a like. For one, it tells us that this new festival is committed to bringing in top acts on an annual basis and for Bassnectar, perhaps he could be the beginning of a new festival trend. With Bassnectar committing to be a resident performer at Middlelands, perhaps other acts will follow and commit themselves to specific festivals in the future. While this is a common practice in clubs and other EDM venues, it hasn’t been a common thing for the festival circuit. With Bassnectar making such a move, maybe that will lead others artists to take the same path. Time will tell. At the very least, we can all count on Bassnectar playing another festival next year. Sounds like a good thing to me.
