Sources say Spinnin' Records May Soon be Acquired by a Major Label
There may be some big changes coming to one of the biggest labels in EDM. According to Music Business Worldwide, Spinnin’ Records may be acquired soon. According to their sources, which have a proven track record of accurate predictions, Sony and Warner are eyeing the Dutch Powerhouse.
This would be an absolutely massive acquisition considering the incredible quality and quantity of artists Spinnin’ Records represents. Some notable names who’ve worked with Spinnin’ Records are; Calvin Harris, A-Trak, Jauz, Don Diablo, Tiësto, & Adventure Club. Founded in 1999 by Eelko van Kooten and Roger de Graaf, Spinnin' features well over 100 major EDM stars on the successful independent label founded by Needless to say this acquisition would give the lucky buyer access to a major chunk of the EDM world. According to the source, the current deal is at an estimated $100 million.
It should also be noted that the sub-labels may be affected with the acquisition. Tiësto’s Musical Freedom label and Oliver Heldens’ Heldeep Records are both in the Spinnin’ Records family. Will the new owners keep the sub-labels as well? All we can do is speculate at this point.
