Hotel Garuda Offer a Fresh Take on Lorde's "Green Light" [LISTEN]
I love Lorde’s vocals, however, I rarely love any remixes of Lorde’s songs because most of them strip/alter her vocals too much so that the track loses its original essence.
Flume did a great job on "Tennis Court" but that feels like ages ago. This is why when I heard that Hotel Garuda (composed of the duo Manila Killa and Candleweather) was remixing Green Lights, I had high hopes.
Spoiler alert, they delivered.
About the new remix, Manila Killa and Candleweather shared:
We're big fans of Lorde's work and think she's a really special artist, so to be asked to remix her new single was a great honor. we tried to keep the energetic vibe of the original song and add some of our own flavor to it too and we're really happy with the outcome.
The duo producer is mostly known in the future bass or bass realm, so I am pretty surprised that in this "Green Lights" remix the basslines sounds like a bass house plucks. They removed the aggressive drum beats from the original and filled it with dreamy synth instead. They do, however, keep some of the melodic piano from the original song and even keep the whole vocals in tact so that we can still sing along to the song.
Hotel Garuda is now on their debut national tour. Be sure to check them out live in a city near you!
