Founding Member of Modestep Decides to Depart from the Group
Tony Friend, DJ and one of the founders of London based dubstep/rock band Modestep has announced he’s leaving the band. That will make frontmen and his brother Josh Friend the only founding members still in the band.
After seven years, and two successful albums, Evolution Theory (2013) and London Road (2015), Tony Friend will no longer be a part of Modestep. In a statement he released on Modestep's Facebook page, he stated he will no longer record or perform with the band.
Friend also stated that there is no love lost between them, and he just feels like he have given the project his all in the last 8 years. He used the opportunity to thank everyone for support, but also to announce he will keep making music on his own. He called the fans to follow him on his new website www.tonyfriendmusic.com, as well as social networks. He wished all the best to his brother Josh, and drummer Pat Lundy.
This is not the first time Modestep went through changes with original drummer Matthew Curtis and guitarist Nick Tsang leaving a band in 2014, while guitarist Kyle Deek was with the band from 2014 to 2016.
