Spotify and Facebook Messenger Team-Up to Introduce Group Playlists
Have you ever trusted a friend to make a playlist for a party and they completely drop the ball? I mean, there’s nothing wrong with Alanis Morissette, but after the fourth straight song the dancefloor turns into a ghost town. Thankfully for us, Spotify and Facebook are teaming up to let us help out or clueless friends.
Spotify has announced Group Playlists for Facebook Messenger. With this new addition to the messaging app, we can now work together with friends to make the perfect playlist. With live collaborating à la Google Docs, we now have a way to work together at the same time from anywhere in the world.
You can create group chats in Messenger and have several friends work on a communal playlist, simultaneously. All a friend needs to do is start the playlist by clicking on the blue plus sign, and then you and your friends can create the most epic playlist the world has ever seen. You can still use the group playlists even if you don’t have a Spotify subscription. So there’s no need to worry if you’re more of an Apple Music or Tidal type of person. (if Tidal people actually exist…)
This might just help step up our summer festivities. The perfect road trip or pool party playlist is now only a few clicks away. Think about it, with live collaboration, you can publicly veto
shame your friend’s country music suggestions, and isn’t that exactly what we need in our lives?
