Apple’s New Highly Anticipated iPhone X Has Been Announced

“This is only the beginning.”

This was one of the first slogans for a device that would revolutionize the way we interacted with others. It would change the landscape of consumer technology for years to come and it would draw the world closer together. It was January 9th, 2007. Steve Jobs took the stage for Apple’s keynote address with a certain excitement in his eyes, “Today, Apple is going to reinvent the phone.” This was the iPhone.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the iPhone and as almost everyone knows, Apple has consistently released an iPhone every year since then, so it of course fell on Apple to really pull out the big guns for their latest installment of the beloved mobile device. They did. Set in the newly built Steve Jobs Theater at Apple HQ in Cupertino, California, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the new line of products hitting shelves soon, while leaving the best for last.

Starting with the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, we see a lot of the same from the iPhone 7 (the phone body especially) except of course an updated processing chip (the A11 Bionic, which just sounds badass), an updated graphics processor, and also the new augmented reality features which truly opened up the minds of all in attendance. However, the best was yet to come with their new flagship phone, the iPhone X.

iPhone X sports numerous new, exciting features but the true highlight is the completely redesigned look of an Apple handset. They have completely gotten rid of the home button and have stretched the screen from corner to corner. So what about Touch ID? What will we do for biometric security!? Well, Apple has that covered, introducing their latest Face ID technology which does exactly what you think it does, except a lot more complicated than you may think. Using a slew of sensors built in next to the front-facing camera, the iPhone X uses your facial features to unlock your iPhone as well as to authorize payments with Apple Pay. Other incredible features include wireless charging (finally!) and augmented reality which will certainly be fascinating to follow and see its applications.

There is so much to be said and discussed about what was announced at Apple’s latest keynote address, however one thing must be kept in mind even through the upcoming onslaught of Apple advertisements. The iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X, are all incredibly advanced cellphones. Hell, even the 7 and 7 Plus are still solid products. If you can’t afford the X because it starts at $999 for the base model, then you still have some incredible options to look at with the 8 and 8 Plus. They are all going to support either 64GB or 256GB options and they will all have the functionality and sleekness that one would expect from an Apple product.

Pre-order will be available for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus on September 15th, releasing on September 22nd, and iPhone X pre-orders commence October 27th, releasing on November 3rd.
