For two weekends in April, the Empire Polo Club in Indio becomes a music lover's paradise. The desert resort city hosts thousands of party-goers that partake in one of the most talked about events of the year, Coachella.
While the music festival may be the epicenter of the activity, thirty miles east, a pool party sets the tone for daytime action prior to reveling in the festival.
Presenting itself as a pre-party to Coachella, DayClub Palm Springs is the desert's biggest pool party series. Held at the Hilton Palm Springs, the festivities take place during both Coachella weekends, showcasing a different roster of artists every day.
The downtown hotel uses its central courtyard and pool complex as the setting for six days of parties. Each day offered a different lineup of artists curated by each of the headliners- Nora en Pure, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Diplo, Dillon Francis, and Jauz.
The first weekend saw a Friday takeover by Nora en Pure Presents Purified with artists like Pete Tong, Lee Wells, Dennis Ferrer, and Amtrac. Saturday was presented by RÜFÜS DU SOL's Rose Avenue Records and featured Cassian, Lastlings, and Option4. Sunday welcomed a takeover by Sound Nightclub and included Camelphat, Walker & Royce, Kölsch, and Dubfire B2B Nicole Moudaber.
Weekend two was headlined by Diplo on Friday alongside Gorgon City and Nitti Gritti. Saturday Dillon Francis hosted Born Dirty, Diablo, and Projekt X. Jauz Presents Off The Deepend took over Sunday with acts like Jack Beats, Noizu, Kyle Walker, and Ookay.
With a solid roster of artist encompassing a wide range of electronic genres, Dayclub Palm Springs is easily a destination in and of itself. The allure of Coachella pales in comparison to the more relaxed, poolside vibes that Dayclub offers. The accommodation packages that the Hilton Palm Springs grants also make it appealing, as cabanas and daybeds are available for rentals.
The daytime setting of the event allows for an easy return to Coachella if the festival is still part of the plan. However, one can also opt to partake in an evening of barhopping the nearby bars and clubs, or an intimate dinner at one of the many restaurants surrounding the hotel.
Dayclub Palm Springs is the perfect compliment to Coachella, however, that doesn't mean that it cannot stand on its own. The pool party series breaks the monotony of Coachella with its wide range of electronic artists, lively atmosphere, and intimate poolside setting.
