If you’ve ever wished you were one of the lucky few to be stranded at Fyre Festival, event organizers Harsh Tokes Booking in Detroit have just the event for you.
This April, a LARP (live-action role play) of the infamous Fyre Festival will be held in Hamtramck, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. The LARP invites players to reenact the disaster that helped spawn rival Netflix and Hulu documentaries, boatloads of memes, and an expensive gag pizza.
Details of the event are scarce, however, almost 10,000 people have responded to the event page on Facebook. The event was originally planned to be held on an island in the Detroit River, but city officials prohibited organizers from hosting it.
Players will be given a role upon arrival and will be expected to to act out the duties of said role. Michelle Birawer of Harsh Tokes Booking spoke with the local publication, Detroit Metro Times and gave some insight on what roles the attendees can fill:
"Upon arrival, people will be given their itinerary and an envelope which will assign them a character. "There will be a box truck filled with luggage, just like at Fyre, and it will be someone's job to 'volunteer' to distribute luggage. It's all random."
It is reported that this event is not officially confirmed and all dates are tentative and pending approval from city officials.
