First the music world clamored over rumors of a Woodstock 50th anniversary celebration. Shortly thereafter, it came to light that there would be two - and then four - such events. Original Woodstock promoter Michael Lang has touted his own as the "real Woodstock festival," and to his credit, his gathering appears to be the first to lock in any headliners.
According to Variety, a number of artists have been wired payments by Woodstock 50's organizers. Among them are Chance the Rapper, Dead & Co., Jay-Z, Imagine Dragons, Miley Cyrus, The Killers, Run The Jewels, Janelle Monae, Cage The Elephant and Greta Van Fleet.
EDM acts are surprisingly absent from the list of artists revealed as Woodstock 50 headliners. It remains to be seen whether more will be included in the official announcement - or those of the other three 50th anniversary celebration events.
Woodstock 50 will take place in Watkins Glen, New York from August 16th-18th. For more information, visit the Woodstock website.
