Porter Robinson fans are a diehard bunch, but even the DJ/producer himself underestimated their fervor. Tickets to the debut of Second Sky Festival sold out immediately after going on sale today. As a result, he and Goldenvoice will add a second day to the event.
According to a statement shared to Robinson's Twitter account, tickets sold out much faster than he or the other organizers anticipated. "We thought the festival might sell out, but this was honestly like 5x the amount of people we expected," he wrote. "It sold out instantly."
The second day of Second Sky will feature all of the same headliners except for G Jones, who had a prior engagement and will be replaced by another act. "Adding a second date still won't be able to get everyone in, but it still seems better than leaving so many people out," Robinson closed out.
Robinson announced Second Sky Festival two weeks ago by the name Multiverse Music Festival. The promoters of a small, DIY festival in the Oakland area called the Multivrs is Illuminated wrote an open letter asking Robinson and Goldenvoice to change the name of their event on account of similarities between the two brands. Joining the ranks of acts like Nina Las Vegas, Anamanaguchi, and Kero Kero Bonito, Madeon made for the final headliner announcement of the event.
Neither Porter Robinson nor Goldenvoice have revealed when tickets will go on sale for the second day of Second Sky Festival in Oakland, California at the time of writing. For more information, visit the event website.
