The Chainsmokers Spin Into VC Investment With MagicX, Opening a "New Category of App"
The Chainsmokers are proving that their talents go far beyond hit-making melodies. They've been making noise with their Mantis Venture Capital fund, and their latest enterprise is a bold investment in MagicX, a startup that harnesses AI to streamline daily life.
Founded in 2020, Mantis Venture Capital swiftly penetrated the market after a $35 million infusion from high-profile backers such as Mark Cuban. It has since grown into a multifaceted fund with investments in sectors ranging from healthcare to music. The firm's latest stake is in MagicX, a "superpower in your pocket" aiming to redefine how individuals handle their day-to-day tasks.
That's according to CEO Brad Kowalk, who took to X to share his vision for creating "a new category of app" that combines cutting-edge design and technology.
"Running your day will become increasingly instant," Kowalk explained. "You won’t have to think about what you need to get done or who to coordinate with along the way. You will simply say what you want, and it will be done. So that’s what we’re working toward — An entirely new type of app that marries design and technology in a way that is both intuitive and powerful, so that you can run your daily life with ease."

The Chainsmokers are no strangers to diversification, having previously invested in Hearth, an Austin-based fintech company; and Royal.io, 3LAU's groundbreaking peer-to-peer music royalties marketplace. Their Mantis fund has backed over 100 companies and their investment in MagicX is the latest show of the duo's commitment to innovation in the evolving tech landscape.
Alex Pall of The Chainsmokers shared his own excitement for the product in a LinkedIn post. "I have been bugging Brad Kowalk and the MagicX team for months to pull back the curtains, and finally the day has come!" he wrote. "I remember using Superhuman or Midjourney for the first time and just the mind-blowing experience I had, and this team is creating that same magic but for all our daily lives!"
