Anyma and Ellie Goulding's "Hypnotized" Doesn't Just Describe Hypnosis—It Administers It
In a world where AI and humans are increasingly entangled, it's fitting that Anyma and Ellie Goulding have dropped a song about losing control.
Out now via Afterlife/Interscope, "Hypnotized" arrives after its stratospheric premiere during Anyma's historic Vegas Sphere residency. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to lose yourself in electronic music, look no further than this dream collaboration, which will leave you questioning whether you were ever in control at all.
Anyma's production in "Hypnotized" is tighter than a submarine door, with a rumbling bassline that doesn't so much invite you to dance as it does possess your body. Meanwhile, Goulding's lyrics about "perfect chemistry" and "spiraling down" feel especially haunting when you consider they were debuted in the stupefying Sphere, where her digitally warped face made more than a few ravers question their reality.
Goulding performed the collaboration live as a stunning visual engulfed the crowd, her face contorting while a swarm of ghostly hands clawed and twisted her features.
This is far from your typical "featuring" cash grab where a pop star phones in some vocals over a lazy beat. The marriage of Anyma's brooding techno production and Goulding's ethereal delivery creates something properly hypnotic, like being slowly pulled into a dancefloor of quicksand.

To that end, you should listen at your own risk. That "circles in my eyes" lyric is as much clever wordplay as it is a warning. The track doesn't just describe hypnosis, but administers it, leaving listeners happily trapped in its dreamlike soundscapes.
