Aphex Twin Releases 38-Track Album Comprising Once Vinyl-Only Tracks
In a surprising move, Aphex Twin actually made it easier for fans to find his music.
The most mysterious man in electronic music has made it extremely difficult to collect his entire discography, with an abundance of music floating around the internet but no way for fans to trace it back to him or verify its authenticity. For many years he'd release special tracks exclusively on vinyl, which could only be purchased at a singular tour date or festival appearance.
Aphex Twin has now gathered 38 recordings—previously released only on wax from 2016-2023—and uploaded them to streaming services. The new compilation, Music From The Merch Desk (2016-2023), is out now on Warp Records.
The first two tracks were released as part of his Day For Night Festival performance while the final five were sold at London's Field Day Festival. Included in the new album is a remix from his alter ego, AFX, amongst other masterfully produced offerings from the artist who leaves more questions than answers. It marks the second re-release of the year from Aphex Twin following October's reprint of Selected Ambient Works Volume II.
