Avicii's family chose to honor his legacy by finishing up the final album he worked on after his death, and now the second single from the effort has arrived. Ahead of the release of Tim, they've shared a single titled "Tough Love" featuring Swedish singer Agnes that exhibits distinct influences from Indian music.
In contrast to the vaguely tropical melodies that characterized "SOS" featuring Aloe Blacc, "Tough Love" fuses worldly instrumentals with timeless, radio-ready vocals.
Avicii (real name Tim Bergling) collaborated with Vargas & Lagola (real names Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir) on the single. According to a statement, "Tough Love" was roughly 80% complete when Bergling passed away. In his notes, he expressed a desire to enlist an actual couple to contribute a duet as the single's topline. In order to do his vision justice, Pontare enlisted Agnes, to whom he is married, to sing opposite him.
All proceeds from Tim will be donated to the Tim Bergling Foundation. Bergling's family launched the organization to coincide with the one-year anniversary of his death to further suicide and mental health awareness initiatives, among other things.
