Black Coffee (real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo) dropped an unexpected new single this week alongside none other than R&B icon Usher. Their dual offering "LaLaLa" is an infectious pop dance track sure to make a late summer splash.
Despite little forewarning leading up to the track's release, this project has in many ways been a long time coming. The idea of a collaboration between the two was first floated as early as two years ago. In 2018, the two performed together at Global Citizen Festival. At the time, plans for a collaboration were still being discussed. Eventually the end of 2018 saw the first fruits of their labor take shape as Maphumulo first teased the song during a drive with Usher.
Now, nine months later, "LaLaLa" is out. Like Maphumulo's late 2018 single with David Guetta and Delilah Montagu, "Drive", his latest work is primarily vocal driven. Luckily, Usher, having worked on similar dance-driven projects with Guetta and Martin Garrix, fits the role perfectly.
