Elohim Explores the Transformative and Destructive Consequences of Anxiety In New Album, "Power of Panic"
With the poignant honesty of a soul confronting its own darkness, Elohim's new album stands as a testament to resilience and the complexities of managing one's mental health.
Elohim's artistic journey took an unexpected turn when her struggles with anxiety, dissociation and panic disorder resurfaced. Her reliance on medication forced her to cancel her tour and face these challenges directly, leading to a period of intense self-reflection, a theme deeply engrained in the DNA of the album, Power of Panic.
"I still can't help but wonder what this would all be like in a parallel universe where I've conquered my struggles, where I'm on stage again performing for thousands," Elohim said in a candid statement with EDM.com. "That's the dream and I promise you I will never give up on that. The reality is so much more complicated, broken, and yet still beautiful. Power of Panic is yours: no stage, no lights, and that has to be enough for now."
From the initial vision of triumph to an unvarnished exploration of anxiety, Elohim effortlessly channels her personal battles into the new album, her most soul-baring work to-date. In "Tiny Human," driving rhythms underscore feelings of insignificance in an ever-demanding society. Elsewhere, the vocaloid melodies and atmospheric quality of "Can't Remember Your Name" mirror the fog of memory loss while "Didn't Sign Up For This" pairs candid lyrics with frenetic production to get the heart racing.
