The latest release from the Nations (of Trap Nation fame) record label Lowly., Canadian producer Fairlane (real name Tyler Mead) and Las Vegas-based producer Zack Gray’s emotive new song “What You Promised” is a heart-wrenching sonic odyssey complete with a tantalizing piano progression and ad-libbed vocals that interplay exquisitely with its gentle melodies and soothing topline vocal.
“What You Promised” is both hopeful and melancholic, a striking testament to Gray and Mead’s ability to infuse tremendous emotional depth into their music. Based around the hook, "I can't give you what I promised if you won't let me out,” the song portrays a scenario in which the listener feels trapped and is unable to offer the same love and support to their partner in the way they'd once promised.
A wonderfully executed blend of future bass and indie pop with a tasteful splash of future garage-inspired percussion, “What You Promised” is an excellent new addition to the already robust Lowly. music catalog. Be sure to keep an eye out for more music from Fairlane and Zack Gray.
