Speculation has been at an all-time high these past few months in regards to Flume's return to music. After the surprise mixtape Hi This Is Flume was released, fan theories came out that the drop date would be June 21st, 2019, the first day of summer. Not being one to follow expectations, he dropped the new track "Let You Know" on June 12th. Does anyone else think he caught on and just decided to drop it on the flipped number?
"Let You Know" features the beautiful vocals of London Grammar, known famously for her work with Disclosure on "Help Me Lose My Mind." Her soulful voice pairs perfectly with the funky drums and amalgamation of pattern skips. The sharp synth work ties in directly with some of the noises we heard from the mixtape. It's eclectic yet delightfully palatable.
In explanation of the collaboration, Flume said:
“[London Grammar vocalist] Hannah Reid and I wrote ‘Let You Know’ last summer. I was on a writing trip to London, was actually the same trip where I first met slowthai. Had been wanting to make something with Hannah for a long time and this one just came together really naturally in the studio that day.”
