Flume Premieres "Levitate" ft. Reo Cragun on Beats 1
Flume sent his fans into a frenzy with the announcement that his and Reo Cragun's collaborative EP Quits was on the way. Shortly before its full release, track #2 from the effort has been premiered as Zane Lowe's Beats 1 World Record.
"Levitate" showcases the dissonant direction characteristic of recent Flume (real name Harley Edward Streten) releases. Counterbalancing Cragun's soulful R&b vocals is a blend of atmospheric melody and ambient noise that pushes the envelope as Streten has since the beginnings of his career.
"We started that one, and then we're like, all right, there's something here, and it took us a long time to crack that," Streten told Lowe. "But yeah, we just kind of like put it on the shelf for a while and then came back to it, and we're really happy we put the time in and made it work."
