San Diego producer Grant is bringing the heat with his latest single, "The Edge," featuring Nevve. The latest addition to Monstercat Uncaged Vol. 6, the song offers up an interesting mesh of pop and trap.
As the song opens it feels as if it's going to be a traditional future bass track, then Grant flips the script with a trap drop. The heavy brass stabs transform it from a good song to a great song. We're really enjoying the Arabic notes laid out in the drop, and Nevve's vocals create a catchy lead that ties it all together.
Grant made his debut on Monstercat with an original single titled "Reach" back in 2014 at the tender, young age of 16 and under the name Grant Bowtie. Following the release of "Wake Up" in late 2016, he changed his name to Grant as a "mark of adulthood and growing maturity as a person and an artist."
