Texas star Khalid's latest track "Talk" is out now and features production from U.K. electronic music duo Disclosure. The song is about that stage in the relationship where you aren't officially together and are looking to define what you are.
"I met up with Disclosure, they played me this crazy-ass instrumental," Khalid told Zane Lowe of the song. "I hopped on it for sure, and made one my favorite songs I've ever been a part of, so I really thank them for that, too."
"Talk" is the perfect blend of smooth R&B with an electronic flair. It's bouncy with glitches and synths sprinkled throughout. You can definitely hear Disclosure's undeniable talent in the studio. Khalid's lush vocals seal the deal and make the pairing a match made in heaven.
The lead single is off Khalid's much-anticipated sophomore album, which he has promised will arrive before Coachella. When discussing the project, the singer noted that he has poured everything into the American Teen follow-up.
“This album is the culmination of all of the growth and experiences I have gathered over the past two remarkable years," Khalid explained. "I have been in the studio pouring my soul and spirit to create a body of work that I hope speaks to each and every one of you and I am excited to share 'Talk,' the first taste of that, today.”
Khalid released his debut studio album American Teen in 2017. It was nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2018 Grammys. Last October, Khalid shared his Suncity EP. Since his EP, Khalid has been busy collaborating with Marshmello, Normani, Zedd and Post Malone, among others.
Disclosure’s last record, Caracal, came out in 2015. Last year, they shared a number of new tracks, including “Moonlight” and the nine-minute “Ultimatum.” They are rumored to be dropping a new album soon.
