Nicky Romero just gave fans his latest track, psytrance-infused collaboration with Israeli duo Teamworx titled "Deep Dark Jungle," out on his own Protocol Recordings.
The producer and DJ (real name Nick Rotteveel van Gotum) has kept himself really busy this year, continuing to pump out release after release. In between, he also just released his first Splice sample pack, and announced a Las Vegas residency with Hakkasan Group, including performances at OMNIA, Hakkasan and JEWEL.
On "Deep Dark Jungle", Gotum steps away from his recent pop-influenced, melodic style and to fans' surprise steps into psy-trance territory. "Deep Dark Jungle" delivers impactful bass lines and surreal atmospheres, making up for a banger catered towards the main stage. While the drop is filled with synths and effects that reinforce the energy, the break is driven by minimal yet infectious Middle Eastern-influenced melodies, most probably work of Teamworx's influences.
