Meet one of electronic music’s most exciting new acts, the Canadian-duo Otherwise Fine. Comprised of Spencer Baird and Jake Sinclair, the two together have been coming at the music industry with a force so great, it's impossible not to stop and look. Their latest endeavor is the release of their lush single, “In Transit,” out now on Proximity.
Launching their collaborative vision in November of 2018, the two made it a top priority for 2019 be their breakout year. The electronic scene got its first glimpse of the duo just 10 months ago with the release of their 8-track debut EP, “Iwantu,” which quickly found its way onto many of Spotify’s most saught-after playlists. Fast forward to the present day and 7 official releases later, Otherwise Fine have proven their wholehearted commitment to their music and show no signs of slowing down.
Amidst a voluminous releasing schedule and countless hours in the studio, another challenge presents itself to the team; they live on separate continents. Crossing paths in 2017 through the Toronto DJ scene (both having a residency in the same nightclub), Baird and Sinclair found themselves bonding over similar creative visions. Baird began working on what would later become their debut EP, but he shelved the project once he moved to France. After revisiting his work, he reached out to Sinclair to help with the creative aesthetic and branding.
With an emphasis on acoustic songwriting, rich instrumentation, and complex sonic textures, Otherwise Fine creates introspective, dream-like storylines told through their powerful compositions. “In Transit” delivers exactly what the duo is known for, a record complete with cinematic piano, epic drums, and technical production skills worthy of the highest praise. Inspired by the likes of Odesza, Porter Robinson, and San Holo, the duo hits the nail on the head when it comes to emotive, impassioned electronic music.

Despite living continents apart, the two have shown that creativity, ambition, and a deep-rooted passion for the love of music can transcend almost any obstacle.
