Ahead of his headlining performance at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, San Holo (real name Sander van Dijck) just released his latest single “Lost Lately.” Following up on his “Lead Me Back” release, “Lost Lately” marks one of his most introspective works yet, touching on his recent extensive touring experiences and the feeling of being lost.
“Lost Lately” continues on San Holo’s guitar-filled and indie-inspired production and songwriting, something he established with his debut effort, album1, which came out late last year. Starting off with a smooth guitar melody, the quirky yet melancholic single takes off with the help of van Dijck’s distorted yet smooth vocals, and is complete with a catchy, fast-paced beat.
On the topic of "Lost Lately," van Dijck said:
“Over the last few years great things have happened to me — I wrote and released my album, toured the world, people came out to my shows and sang along to my lyrics, all very big dreams of mine growing up. Performing onstage and having people connect to your music is beautiful; there’s nothing like it. But then what happens when that fantasy you’ve always dreamed about suddenly becomes real? And you re-live that fantasy over and over every night? Getting used to this lifestyle made me feel kind of lost. I think feeling lost is very common for people these days. We all set so many goals and everything is based on accomplishments. But what happens to your sense of purpose if you’ve suddenly reached that goal? For me, I started to feel lost. I had no real place to call home, no sense of what my next step would be, and no idea what happiness was anymore. That’s what 'Lost Lately' is about to me.”
San Holo’s authenticity and character paired with his unique production taste and ideas have catapulted him to stardom over the recent years. His debut album was met with praise from fans and was followed by a live worldwide tour, while his own independent label bitbird regularly releases forward-thinking music and puts on talented, up-and-coming artists.
