FKA twigs also enlisted Benny Blanco, Nicolas Jaar and Noah Goldstein.

Skrillex is no stranger to working alongside high-profile pop artists, and most recently he's added another FKA twigs collaboration to his discography. "sad day" didn't result from the two of them alone, however. Benny Blanco, Nicolas Jaar and Noah Goldstein also contributed to the track.

"sad day" is predictably centered around around a serene vocal by FKA twigs (real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett), but that doesn't keep the other elements from shining through. Lush atmospheres give way to a cacophony of dissonant sound effects after each chorus in a way that subtly highlights the dark subtext of Barnett's lyrics.

Skrillex (real name Sonny Moore) left such a lasting impression on electronic music with early efforts like the EP My Name Is Skrillex that it was only a matter of time before he crossed over into the mainstream. Other notable artists to whom he's lent his production chops include Elohim, Burna Boy and even the Zac Brown Band.

At that, "sad day" is not Moore and Barnett's first collaboration. In September, they teamed up on "holy terrain" featuring none other than Future.

"sad day" will appear on FKA twigs upcoming album, MAGDALENE, which will be available here on Friday, the 8th.
