Only a month after the release of his Watch Yo Back EP on Monstercat, Slushii (real name Julian Scanlan) is already back at the forefront of the bass music scene. This time, he's enlisted the talents of Kaivon for their new collaborative single, “Sober.” The track also comes just a week ahead of Scanlan debuting his new side project, sapientdream.
While Scanlan has yet to officially announce the side project to his socials at the time of writing, in a press release sent out it was stated that sapientdream was his “new alias for ambient, downtempo music.” The moniker comes from his massively successful 2016 single under the same name. Looking at sapientdream’s SoundCloud account, it also appears that Scanlan’s late 2018 album, DREAM was also recently uploaded two weeks ago.
Though Scanlan appears to be diving deeper into his lo-fi style, fans can still expect heavy-hitting bass hits to come from his Slushii project. "Sober" is characterized by empowering vocals and a bass-heavy melodic drop, and it is sure to add to Scanlan’s extensive festival weapons arsenal.
