Platinum-selling British four-piece collective Rudimental and the Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer, and instrumentalist Elderbrook have joined forces to unveil their long-awaited collaborative summer single, “Something About You.” It's out now on Big Beat Records.
Composed of Piers Aggett, Amir Amor, Kesi Dryden, and Locksmith, the multi-platinum group has a worldwide influence unlike any other. Sitting in the 200s (currently 252nd) for most played artists on Spotify and having amassed over 1.2 billion streams, it’s easy to see that their reach is extraordinary. Elderbrook is also no stranger to the limelight, spending the last two years touring the world with other global acts such as RÜFÜS DU SOL. Combining their large and lasting influences on pop culture, it comes as no surprise that their collaborative efforts resulted in a hit record.
“I’ve always loved the music and energy that Rudimental put out,” Elderbrook said in regards to working with the iconic band. “This song wouldn’t have happened without them and has been amazing collaborating with them!”
The Rudimental men echoed this same loving energy back, jointly stating, “We have been big fans of Elderbrook’s vocals and production over the past few years so it’s amazing to finally come together on this track!”
The long-awaited track is accompanied by an awe-inspiring official music video directed by Luke Davies. Fans may be familiar with Davies from his work as director Jax Jones' “Ring Ring” featuring Rich The Kid and Mabel, which is currently sitting at just under 50 million views. The video from "Something About You" stars Michael Socha from HBO’s Chernobyl as the main actor, and focuses on the importance of young men's mental health. The video begins with a group of men sitting at a therapy session together when Socha is asked to share his emotions. Reluctantly, he stands up and begins to dance. As he continues, the other men start to join, until they are all dancing together. This visual challenges the idea of toxic masculinity, and perfectly highlights the beauty and solidarity that come with emotional vulnerability.
“Something About You” comes as part of Rudimental’s Distinction EP, out now on Major Tom and Big Beat Records. The four-track project includes previously released singles,“Sitigawana” featuring The Martinez Brothers and collaborative track with Preditah titled “Mean That Much” featuring MORGAN.
