Just last week we were introduced to Diplo's latest venture, the house music label Higher Ground. The first to debut their work on the new imprint is the duo, Walker & Royce. The New York natives Sam Walker and Gavin Royce deliver a double-single EP with tracks "Rave Grave" featuring VNSSA and "The Biznes.”
The in-demand duo's clear-cut sound with crisp high hats and booming four-on-the-floor beats yields the perfect house tracks to get down to. VNSSA's vocal line in "Rave Grave" is that catchy hook that makes house music such an earworm genre. The shooting synths and sirens are classic Walker & Royce. "The Biznes" runs similar with the kick drum patterns and adds in some fun vocal chops and computer malfunction noises. This two-track EP is the perfect introduction for the new label to release.
Higher Ground is set to feature not only Diplo's new house music but songs from rising house stars and well-established house music artists. The label head has stated, "The genre has always been incredibly important to me, and Higher Ground is our homage to the legends and opportunity to champion new sounds and artists from around the world pushing the genre forward." Coming on the tail of this release will be new music from andhim, Born Dirty, DJEFF, and more.
