It has been a week since we lost the iconic rapper Mac Miller from an apparent drug overdose. We are still trying to wrap our heads around the devastating news and so is his former girlfriend Ariana Grande. The two dated for a few years until they called it quits back in May. Since then, Grande got engaged to Pete Davidson and Miller released his standout album “Swimming”.

While countless fans and fellow artists have already shared their sadness and memories of the rapper to social media, Ariana Grande kept quiet for a while about the news. The day after his death, she posted a picture of him without a caption and had not shared anything since.

Today, Grande has broken her silence, sharing her raw and emotional thoughts on Mac Miller’s death. She posted a video of him along with a caption that will tear you apart. Her words in the post feel so authentic that chills will run through your body as you read it.

“I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away. I really wanted to. The kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. I hope you’re okay now. Rest.”

The songstress says he met him when she was only 19 and “adored” him. The video shows Miller and her enjoying a dinner together and shows him wearing a sweatshirt saying “everything will be okay”.

The official cause of death has not been determined, an autopsy report will be released in 4-6 weeks. Mac Miller was 26 years old.
