Philippe Zdar of the Iconic Cassius Has Passed Away
Iconic music producer and one half of the famous Cassius, Philippe Zdar, has tragically passed away. It appears he accidentally fell out of a window in Paris on the evening of June 19th.
Zdar, with Cassius and as a standalone producer, was instrumental to the French touch movement in the 1990s, among acts like Daft Punk, Laurent Garnier, and many others. In his work with the world-renowned Ed Banger Records and beyond the electronic music realm with pop, hip-hop, and rock outfits like Phoenix and Beastie Boys, Zdar reached nearly every facet of music over the course of a 20+ year career.
The entire music community has already begun mourning and remembering the life of Zdar, with everyone from Skream to Calvin Harris making statements in honor of the late musician.
Cassius' latest album will be released this Friday. Philippe Zdar is survived by his ex-wife and daughter.
