Skrillex, Diplo and More said to be Involved with Rihanna's Upcoming Album
An R&B sensation whose path has crossed with those of notable EDM artists is said to be teaming up with several for an upcoming endeavor. Rihanna has confirmed that her ninth studio-length album is on the way, and a laundry list of electronic music producers are rumored to be involved.
In an interview with the New York Times, Rihanna (full name Robyn Rihanna Fenty) revealed that her next LP will arrive sometime in 2019 and will more than likely go by the title R9. Prior to that, The Daily Star had published rumors that Skrillex, Diplo, Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix and others were among the featured artists.
R9 looks to be a reggae-pop album, perhaps ushering in an era of mainstream popularity for purveyors of the genre. Neither Rihanna nor her collaborators have hinted at a specific release date or any entries on the album's tracklist at the time of writing.
Corrections and clarifications: A previous version of this article incorrectly cited Swedish DJ/producer Alesso as the source of the aforementioned rumors.
