In the midst of a huge comic book weekend comprised of Free Comic Book Day and Avengers: Endgame's record-smashing cinema reign, Steve Aoki shared some words on his new comic book series, Neon Future.
Neon Future is produced by a new comic book company, Impact Theory. When formulating the idea, Aoki and the Impact Theory team made it very clear that the venture would not simply be marketing cash grab. Aoki wants to make the best comic books possible that can be enjoyed by readers who might not know who he is.
While speaking to the Associated Press, Aoki described how technology is shown in a non-traditional light compared to typical sci-fi standards:
“A general plot is that technology is destroying humanity. The robots are going to make us their slaves, or the human species is going to be exterminated by technology. But in this case, we are going to become augmented. We use technology for the good. It’s a different kind of story.”
